What We’re All About

The Digital Music Creators group was formed at the beginning of 2024, to engage amateur musicians to discuss, share and learn from each other. Based in Canada, with members from the USA (and any other english speak country are welcome.) We are a friendly group of middle-aged music producers that enjoy making electronic music as a hobby.

This is not a beginner’s group. You need to already be recording with a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation software – Ableton, Cubase, FL Studio, Logic, Reason, Reaper…) to fit in. It is suggested that you visit as an observer and decide if your music is suitable for the next meeting. Come join for Free and see if we get along.

We are a passionate mixed group of individuals that love to make new sounds and beats. Please play nice and respect and support each other.

Most of our compositions are instrumentals in many genres – IDM, Techno, House, Electronica Pop, Cinematic, New Age, World, Experimental… Elements of voice and acoustic instrumentation may be present, but we primarily work within the digital synthesized domain.

We meet online at Zoom meetings every 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7pm EST for around 2 hours.

Our meetings are evenings to play demos of our musical compositions and constructively critique them. Some months, submissions will have a (optional) Music Challenge theme that members can do. Within those two hours, we may finish with a Tech Talk on gear, plugins, compositional techniques or music theory.

Our Zoom Meeting Agenda

Names of member submissions are randomized at the beginning of the night. Latecomers’ names are added to the end of that list.

Each composer (that’s you) can give an intro about the piece that will demo. We encourage honest, constructive feedback from members to help you improve your tunes (and not make this just an ego boosting exercise).

Once all the members’ demos have been played, the second part of the night will be a short Tech Talk. As the group grows, a second night may be added to cover this. As with music and being creative, this Zoom group will evolve in the direction members take it.

Music Submission Formats

Submit one original tune created by you (not AI) under 5 minutes in length.

Email a MP3 file or a link to a Wave file from your server (Google Drive, Dropbox…) or a link to your Soundcloud, Bandcamp, Audius etc. page for playback.

If you made a music video, all the better, send us your Vimeo, YouTube link.

> Send your audio files or links prior to the nights event to – digitalmusiccreators@gmail.com for playback.

(And we stream audio in stereo on Zoom. You have to enable stereo in Zoom. The setting is at the top left corner of your screen.)
